New Players Welcome for 2025/26 Season

Well another season is is alll most upon us. we are looking to recruit right acrosss all teams.

Finding the right club can be difficult. But If you like great quality hockey, a great social side, great location or great facilities? Purley Walcountians Hockey Club is the one! with four mens teams and three ladies teams. Our XI compete in London Premier League. Below them Ladies compete in South East Oaks Div 1, Div 2 & Div 4, Mens 2 in London Div 3 South & 3/4's in South East Oaks Division. We are lucky enough to have have our own club house next to our astro. The club caters for variety of standards. If that all sounds appealing, then why not give us a try? Mens training will be on Tuesdays 8 - 10pm and Ladies training on Wednesdays 8 - 9:45pm.

Junior Training Schedule for 2025/26 Season

Sundays: 10 - 11am Beginners, U8 Boys and Girls, U10/U12 Boys
11.15 - 12.15 U10/U12 Girls and any U14 Girls
Wednesdays
7 - 8pm U14/U16 Boys and Girls

Adult Pre Season Training Begins for 2022/23 Season

Pre-season training begins Wednesday 10th August from 7.45pm for both Men's & Ladies

From 16th August, Mens training will be on Tuesdays 7.45 - 10pm (Men's 1/2 7.45 - 10, Men's 3/4 8 to 9.45) and Ladies training on Wednesdays 7:45-9:45pm.

U14 Boys and Girls training starts on 14th September on Wednesdays from 7 - 8pm.

All new and returning players welcome to attend.

PWHC secure CLUBMARK certification

We are delighted to announce that Purley Walcountians Hockey Club has just achieved the Clubmark accreditation in recognition of the standards set running our club. It reflects a high-quality community sports club and stands for higher standards of welfare, equity, coaching and management.

This has taken a lot of hard work over the last year or so with support from England Hockey. We are very proud that PWHC has been recognised in this way.

A big thank you to Jane Hallett for all her hard work gathering all the necessary information needed to fulfil the qualification.

PW's appoint Martin Scanlon as Coach/Player

PWHC is delighted to announce the appointment of Martin Scanlon to the post of men’s 1st XI Coach/player. Martin Scanlon represented England at all junior levels, was selected for the 2009 Junior World Cup and played for Great Britain U21s during the 2009 Youth Olympics in Sydney, Australia. His previous clubs include Loughborough Students and Beeston HC where Martin played three seasons in the EuroHockey League and won the English Premier League twice.

Don't forget that as a fund raiser we run a 50’s club – pay £5 per month via standing order and be in with a chance of winning a monthly prize. Over the year there are 12 prizes – 1 per month! There are 9 monthly prizes of £60, 2 prizes of £250 and a Xmas prize of £500! You have got to be in it to win it! It's not too late in the season to join PWHC. Indeed with 2/3 of the season remaining, a veterans cup match coming up, junior hockey on Sundays and a summer league guaranteeing hockey all year round there's always space for more players of all abilities and ages. Just contact the club via the web link or come along to training on Wednesdays from 8pm. We look forward to welcoming you to the club.

If you are returning to the area or leaving university this year Purley Walcountians Hockey Club is the place to play hockey with 5 mens team, 1 ladies team and a thriving colts section with more than 150 juniors.
